The key to dealing with any flood water is to remove standing water IMMEDIATELY. Whether on Hard floor surfaces, on Carpets or in floor voids it is imperative that the visible water is removed. By rapid extraction this will limit the amount of further damage and enhance the Drying process.

After removal of standing water the next stage is to clean and sanitise all areas affected by flood or water damages.

There are different grades of ‘Water types’ with water sources ranging from clean water to contaminated sources such as Sewage. At Assured Repairs we will clean-up following an escape of water using thorough effective procedures and cleaning solutions. It is imperative that the Clean-up process is dealt with quickly!! If this process is delayed the contamination ‘grade’ can change very quickly and such change the levels of works required.

Why categorise floods?

We categorise flood incidents to help with our decision making. Internationally accepted standards classify water damage incidents according to the source of the water.

  1. Clean water - not harmful to humans; from broken pipes, sink overflows, appliance leaks.
  2. Grey water - water which may carry some microorganisms, for example, water from dishwashers, washing machines, broken aquariums.
  3. Black water - grossly unsanitary water, containing large quantities of micro-organisms and other contaminants.
This could include sewage entering a building, sea water, ground surface water and water from streams and rivers.
